Hating Twitter
April 8, 2008
I would say that I’m joining the Twitter party a little late, but I’m not joining. If you don’t know what Twitter is, I can forgive you. However, internet junkies will want to know if you have been living under a rock, and if so, “do they have free wi-fi under there?”
Here’s the summary of Twitter’s purpose on the internet, from their web site:
What is it? Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
How do I use it? Tell us what you’re doing in 140 characters or less! Send your thoughts, observations, and goings-on in your day. Whether you’re “eating an apple” or “looking foward to the weekend” or “Heading out of town” it’s twitter-worthy.
So let me get this straight. I take the time throughout my day to communicate everything I am doing to my friends and family, who will want to know when I am plucking my nose hairs or picking up my dirty socks. With all the competing interests on the internet, how in the heck Twitter became popular is beyond me.
The Big Question is, does hating Twitter make me a doomed isolationist?
